Cara Menumbuhkan Semangat Belajar Pada Anak

Nah, ini adalah tema yang sering ditunggu-tunggu oleh orangtua dan juga sering banyak dikeluhkan orangtua. “Kenapa anak saya tidak senang belajar, bermain saja seharian”, keluh seorang Ibu yang hadir di seminar saya. Para pembaca, percayakah anda bahwa kehidupan sejati kita manusia adalah seorang pembelajar? Tetapi kita sering memberikan perlakuan yang tidak menyenangkan saat anak belajar (secara tidak sadar) bahkan dulu kita pun mungkin diberikan stimulasi yang salah sehingga belajar itu tidak menyenangkan.

Misalnya, saat anak kita bayi dan berumur 1 tahun. Dia ingin memasukan semua barang yang dapat ia pegang ke dalam mulutnya, benar? Nah, yang kebanyakan orang lakukan saat itu adalah berkata “eh.. itu kotor, tidak boleh” sambil menarik barang tersebut. Sebenarnya ini adalah perilaku dasar pada saat seorang anak belajar. Kemudian saat dia mulai bisa berjalan, mulai ingin tahu lebih banyak tentang lingkungan sekitar, semakin banyak larangan yang dikeluarkan oleh orangtua ataupun pengasuh. Mungkin karena lelah menjaga anak seharian, sehingga banyak larangan yang dikeluarkan. Padahal ini adalah keinginan mereka untuk tahu (belajar) lebih banyak, mengisi database di otaknya yang masih kosong dan perlu di isi.

Saat mulai bisa berbicara, bertanya ini dan itu. “Ini apa? Kenapa?” Jawaban yang diterima “Lha tadi sudah tanya, sekarang tanya lagi, dasar cerewet” mungkin saat itu pengasuh dan orangtua sedang lelah juga saat menjaganya sehingga malas dan capek untuk memberikan penjelasan dan ini adalah proses belajar seorang anak. Ada barang baru di rumah dan anak ingin memegangnya atau mengetahui lebih dekat, maka kita orangtua dan pengasuhnya menjauhkan barang tersebut darinya, dengan dalih nanti rusak karena barang mahal.

Dari sepenggal contoh diatas dimana ini adalah pengalaman nyata dari saya dan beberapa klien, siapakah yang membuat anak menjadi malas belajar?

 

Berikutnya ada seorang anak berusia 8 tahun, sebut saja Aji. Orangtuanya sangat mengeluhkan, bahwa anaknya tidak suka belajar dan sudah mendapat peringatan dari gurunya jika tidak ada perubahan sikap maka kemungkinan besar Aji tidak naik kelas. Saat bertemu, saya yakin Aji adalah anak yang luar biasa. Sesaat saya bertanya tentang hobi dan kesukaannya saat bermain, dengan cepat saya mengetahui anak ini luar biasa. Sebab setelah saya tanya tentang hobinya ternyata sepak bola, dan tim kegemarannya adalah Arsenal (Liga Inggris). Dan Aji hafal seluruh pemain inti dan cadangan Arsenal, berikut pelatih dan asistennya serta nomor punggung pemain, tanggal ulang tahun pemain serta daftar pencetak goal dan assist (pemberi umpan) dan point klasemen liga dan urutannya. Luar biasa!! Dalam hati saya, tidak ada yang salah sama hardware (otaknya), tetapi masalahnya adalah software.

Satu orang anak yang sama, otaknya kalau dibuat belajar pelajaran di sekolah tidak berfungsi (berhitung, menghafal) tetapi hafal seluruh pemain Arsenal. Apa anak ini bodoh? Tentunya anda sepaham dengan saya, jawabanya adalah tidak. Anak ini pandai luar biasa. Hanya saja salah perlakuan sehingga ia malas dan tidak suka belajar.

Lalu apa yang saya lakukan untuk mengubah agar software menjadi baik, dan membuat anak ini agar mudah belajar? Yang saya perbaiki orangtuanya dahulu, sebab untuk anak seusia Aji, jika terdapat masalah dalam hidupnya berarti orangtua yang akan membantu untuk mengatasi masalah anak tersebut. Saya mengajarkan bagaimana berkomunikasi dengan anak dan sifat dari pikiran anak, serta pentingnya menomor satukan cinta dalam mendidik anak, yang semuanya akan sangat panjang jika saya jelaskan disini.

 

Berikutnya adalah tips bagaimana agar, anak kita menjadi rajin dan mudah sekali belajar dan sekolah.

1. Saat pulang sekolah tanyakan “Hai sayang, apa yang menyenangkan hari ini di sekolah?”Otomatis otak anak akan mencari hal-hal yang menyenangkan di sekolah dan ini secara tidak langsung akan memberitahu sang anak bahwa sekolah adalah tempat yang menyenangkan.

2. Saat anak tidur (Hypnosleep), katakan “Makin hari, belajar makin menyenangkan”, “Sama halnya dengan bermain, belajar juga sangat menyenangkan”, “Mudah sekali bagimu untuk belajar (berhitung, menghafal dan lain-lain.)”.

3. Jelaskan manfaat dari pelajaran yang sedang dipelajari (sesuai dengan minat anak tersebut) misalnya, dengan mempelajari perkalian, maka saat liburan naik kelas nanti nanti kamu bisa menghitung berapa harga barang yang akan kamu beli di Singapura, dan kamu bisa membandingkannya dengan harga di Indonesia. Jika kamu menguasai percakapan dalam bahasa inggris maka kamu akan sangat mudah berkomunikasi dengan pelatih sepak bolamu yang dari Thailand.

4. Mintalah guru les pelajarannya (jika ada), sering-sering mengatakan bahwa anak kita adalah anak yang hebat dan luar biasa. Pujian yang tulus dan memompa semangatnya jauh lebih penting dari pada mengajarkan tehnik-tehnik berhitung dan menghafal yang cepat. Mintalah bantuan orang-orang sekitar termasuk guru untuk meningkatkan harga diri anak kita.

5. Jika anak kita masih kecil dan masih suka dibacakan dongeng, bacakan dongeng dengan posisi memangku dia (dengan posisi yang nyaman, serta memudahkan kita orangtua untuk memberikan ciuman kasih sayang atau pelukan sayang) tujuannya agar anak mengkaitkan membaca buku dengan rasa cinta dari orangtua dan buku adalah hal yang sangat menyenangkan.

6. Gunakan surat rahasia dari orangtua kepada anak, kita bisa berkata “Nak, Ibu telah meletakan surat rahasia buat kamu. Cuma kamu dan ibu yang tahu isinya. Ibu letakan dibawah bantal tidurmu, bacalah setelah makan ya.” Isinya bisa berupa kata-kata yang menyemangati anak dalam kegiatan belajar dan sekolahnya.
